San D'Lego

Whew! What a weekend! It was a total oxy-moron, long & fast! Last week, on Wednesday or maybe Thursday, John & I decided to make a trip to San Diego. John's cousin was coming home from deployment and we decided to go to his welcome home BBQ. We told JL we were going and he was really excited to see his "Uncle Blu" and the girls. He kept asking us when we were in the car if we were in "San D'Lego yet?" Aww....I love my boy! You should hear him say Police Officer. (That's another story) :)

We headed out on our trip on Friday morning. We had to stop in Florence to pick up John's grandparents because we were going to be their chauffeurs. Grandpa had a dr's appt and we had to wait for that to finish. So my loving husband did the greatest thing ever! He bought me a sundae from Sonic and took me for a ride around the prisons. Now if you know me....you should know that I love prisoners. I don't know what it is but they excite me, and not in the way you think! I get really happy when I see them in the yard, in their orange suits behind the barb wire fence. This totally made my day. I didn't even need to go to San Diego now! ;)
We finally got on the road at about 7pm. I sat in the back of the Expedition and just watched and listened to John's conversation with his Grandpa. ♥ This made my heart melt. We recently found out that John's Grandpa has prostate cancer. It breaks my heart because he is such a great man and I just love his smile. To hear Grandpa talk to John about back in the day and them just laughing together made my heart smile. We stopped in Yuma so Grandma and Grandpa could stretch their legs. This was about 11:30 or so. I thought this is good. Only another 2 hours or so and we will be there. Boy was I wrong. We stopped at the wrong place. We stopped at a casino. Uh~Oh! Yes it was late and I was sleeping. To make a long story short, let's just say I was stuck in the car with two kids while they went in to take a "potty" break. John his grandparents finally came back to the car at like 1AM. I was not a happy camper. We continued our journey and made it to San Diego around 3AM.
That morning we woke up around 7 and got ready for the day. We headed over to Camp Pendleton and spent the whole day there. The kids played and it was so great to see everyone. We headed back to the hotel and woke up the next morning to head back home. We made one last stop at "Blu's" house for breakfast, then headed out. We left San Diego around 11AM. We didn't get home until after mignight, because again we stopped at the casino. This time though, I didn't wait in the car. I went in with the kids and we ate at the buffet. Let me just add a little something, John plays my favorite slot machine, Wheel of Fortune, and it irritates me just a little that he wins ALL THE TIME on this game. Me....not so much. Anyways...John won us $1200. Grandma & Grandpa played the slots, and just from observation, I have never seen Grandpa move so fast. He was like a kid in a candy store. Smiles all around. I wish I had my camera to capture this moment.
It was good quality time with John's grandparents and seeing the family. It was a short stay in San Diego but it was well worth it. I can't wait to go back!

On that note.......this week is going to be crazy busy. I have my to~do list and I hope I get it all done. I have to because in 6 days I am taking my lil man to Disneyland! EEK! I am so excited. And it is even better because he has no idea. I am not going to tell him either. Not when we are on the plane or in the taxi on our way to the Disneyland Resort. I can't wait till the light goes off and he figures out where we are at! I better have my camera ready for that face! It is going to be great! We are going Trick~or~Treating at Disneyland! What can be better than that? Pictures will for sure follow.

I hope you all have a fantastic week! Till next week, because you know I will be pulling out my hair for the rest of this one! Adios!
